Styling a Blank Slate

As a student--housing is as follows, you live in a dorm or apartment/home under a landlord.

I chose the apartment, or more specifically a town home. Town homes are nice, but what the landlord says, GOES

So I'll just go ahead and get to the point and say -- the place was BORING. You can't paint the walls, hangings have to be minimal and with a nail of a certain size *blah, blah, blah* and so on...

Knowing that I would be Styling a Blank Slate, I decided to search for COLOR and LOTS of it.

This wonderful little rug (and cheap at that -- thanks TJ Max) is the first thing I came across and it became my inspiration for my quaint, little space

I also found the want to personalize my space with drawings and/or paintings I had done -- I mean it is MY space... why not give it a personal touch? <3

I also found great help in album art -- and with the help of Urban Outfitters and their vinyl frames, it made it simple to display some

I like to use the term "clustered" rather than "cluttered", but it's me -- it's ECLECTIC <3

(P.S. those colorful puffs upon my wall were less than a dollar at a local party store!!)

Ever consider your accessories to be decor? They can make a boring wall come to life and give yourself a functional way to gain more drawer space (which all girls know they need

The space is still a work in progress, but with some elbow grease, creativity, and time away from two jobs and classes... it'll get there ;)

With love,
Em <3

Braids fo' days

So, you simply start out with two braids. You know, like the ones Pippi and Wendy wear! But then you wrap them to the top of your head and pin them behind the crown of your bangs. I PROMISE it is as simple as that, no Pinterest type failures here :p

I do let my bangs and "face framing" hairs hang to the side and out of the braids. That way I don't feel like my hair is slicked back straight to my head.

Don't Blink

Too many times have I caught myself looking down and following my feet on the same ol' walk to class everyday.

Once a person in my art class made a project with a simple white piece of paper held in front of him and took several shots on his way to class, combining them to create a short film later. This made me think, "what am I actually missing out on with the one goal set mind?"

Don't forget to look up, admire your surroundings because they are always changing. New people, new views, new smells (good and bad), but they are new experiences none-the-less, so why miss out on them?

Bonnaroo.

I know this post is late, BUT Bonnaroo is worth the wait.

Documenting Bonnaroo was quite the challenge while camping and using only an iPhone. But then again, an iPhone couldn't have completely captured it's sheer GREATNESS.

On this large Manchester farm, there is an unwritten set of rules, one of which being that there are none... So it doesn't make a great deal on sense BUT (i will probably use that word a lot) everyone is to respect one another and their being.

IT WAS FABULOUS.

No one is judged, everyone is sharing, compliments are exchanged and OBVIOUSLY there was some incredible music

My Favorites being: Reptar, Father John Misty, and Django Django
(if you haven't heard them-they are worth checking out! promise)

I obviously had to take a picture of the famous arch to Center Roo (above)

Sunglasses were necessary, but face paint was optional (and also very common).

The following pictures have been modified using the #abeautifulmess created by the lovely bloggers of A Beautiful Mess

Artwork was very common, people had free reigns to doodle on whatever they pleased. Above is one of the favorites from the trip and after posting to Instagram, the artist was found (how neat!) and his work can be viewed @johnlytlewilson on Insta!

One of the stages before Macklemore performed, whom I was VERY impressed by!

One last shot, this was my background on my phone for a while, because it captures the diverse and free spirit of the farm. An experience to NEVER be forgotten <3
Eclectic Em.

Such a name is suiting for a girl like me, a lover of both Modern and Vintage. Indoors and Outdoors. Photography and Sketching. Pepsi AND Cola. Oh my!

My name is Emily, sometimes I write Emily Ann, sometimes just Emily.
But to make it even more complicated, most just call me Preece.

I study design and LOVE to take pictures, of everything.

"Selfies" aren't my area of expertise but I should introduce myself...

I may be able to grace you all with a normal full faced shot later, but until then you can enjoy my "scratch behind the ear shot".

My blog will be as eclectic as myself, with posts of just about everything. Enjoy <3
